I was asked to play at Lazy Sunday, an irregular internet streaming event. It took place yesterday and consisted of 12 hours of music and visuals from all over the world.

It was a new experience for me and quite odd to play to people I couldn't see. Anyway, I played a short set. It included some tracks which are also on the Breakbeat Hardcore mixtapes I've already released, as well as a few new (to me) tracks.

Here's a mix of some of my favourite electronic music by Finnish artists from the past few years, featuring tracks by moonlighting Helsinki tram driver Jaakko Eino Kalevi, fantastically-named DJ Candle In The Wind (who's done some great mix CD's), Uusi Fantasia (from their eclectic debut album), and Aavikko, self-confessed synthy loonies, plus a lot more. Labels include German Freundinnen and Norway's Tellé, but all the other labels, such as the legendary Rikos, long-established Stupido, and newer labels like New Judas, are from Finland.

The title means 'Finnish electronic music', but the word-for-word translation is 'machinemusic', which I think is better :)

I don't think enough people around the world have heard the good stuff coming out of Finland, so I want to spread it about.

Here's another instalment of that electrofunky stuttery simple music called Skweee. That's spelt with 3 e's people, don't forget! This new vinyl-only Skweeemix includes some releases from last year and a couple from this year.

Most of the tracks featured in the mix were released on the two main Skweee-oriented labels (Flogsta Danshall from Sweden and Harmönia from Finland). The debut releases of two newish labels, Temporarily Morons and Eden Hashish Center, are also in the mix. Huge Bass, an established Finnish label, features too.

Most of these tunes were produced in Finland and Sweden, but there are tracks from skweee-ers from England (Metske), and France (Wankers United) in this mix too.

There'll be another, slightly more uptempo Skweeemix from me at some stage, hopefully in less than a year this time....
